일본 근세시대 읽을거리로써의 문양집(文樣集)―산토 교덴(山東京伝)의 『고몬신포(小紋新法)』를 중심으로―

Abstract

일본 근세시대(1603-1868)에는 고소데(小袖), 손수건(手拭い) 등에 활용하기 위한 디자인북인 히나가타본(雛形本)이 활발히 간행 되었다. 다른 한편으로는 디자인북의 형식을 갖추고 있으나, 읽고 해독하는 즐거움을 담고 있는 문양집(文樣集)도 간행되게 된다. 본고는 게사쿠샤(戯作者) 산토 교덴(山東京伝)의 고몬신포(小紋新法)』를 통해서 읽을거리로써의 문양집의 특징을 분석한 것이다. 산토 교덴이 문양집에 관심을 가지게 된 계기는 우키요에(浮世絵) 화공들과 맺은 문예 교류 ‘다카라아와세 모임(宝合の会)’과 ‘다나구이아와세 모임(手拭合の会)’에 의해서 이다. 도안에 관심을 가지게 된 교덴은 게사쿠샤로서의 유희와 위트를 접목시킨 자신만의 문양집을 간행하게 된다. 고몬신포에는 그의 이전 문양집에서는 확인할 수 없는 도안을 어떤 용도로 사용하면 좋을지를 의미하는 ○■△등의 기호가 표시되어 있다. 하지만 기호의 통일성이 없으며, 이는 단지 문양집에 가깝게 보이기 위한 장치라고 볼 수 있다. 즉, 고몬신포는 형식적으로는 문양집과 같은 특징을 가지고 있지만, 내용적인 측면에는 골계미를 가득 담은 희문(戯文)에 초점이 맞춰진 읽을거리인 것이다.

In the early modern era of Japan(1608~1868), Hinagata printings, a sort of design books in which reference patterns presented, were frequently published. They were, as a matter of form, desgin references. On the other hand, they were also collections of literary works. This essay is about to analyze the feature of Hinagata printings as antologies, on 『Komon Shinpo(小紋新法)』 written by Santo Kyouden, a writer of light literature. Writers at that time had come to concern design references by communications with Ukiyo-e artists in group activities such as Takara-awase(宝合の会) or Tanakui-awase(手拭合の会). Kyouden began to publish his own design books in which his sense of light literature is engrafted upon the layout of design reference, as he had been interested in a field of design. We can see some marks such as ○, ■, or △ in 『Komon Shinpo』. These marks of course refer to proper patterns. However, no regularity are found in between the marks. For this reason, those marks are presented merely for being shown as if Komon Shinpo were ordinary one of design references. That is, 『Komon Shinpo』 is actually an antology with full of humor, whereas the book has a form of design reference.
