Abstract

This study conducted a cultural descriptive analysis focusing on the unique subculture within MCT S League clubs to gain insight into the characteristics and perceptions of club activities. A total of seven club members were selected as research participants and the internal phenomenon of the club was investigated through interviews, observations, and supplementary materials. The study found that some of the clubs’ decision-making such as recruiting, and member selection, were conducted behind closed doors. Additionally, male dominating environment resulted in a strict training culture that emphasized speedy and safe practices. Within the club, expansion, and conflict of social relationships were observed, and members demonstrated leadership that prioritized team victory. The subcultural characteristics of the club provided opportunities for self-actualization as in Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, promoting individual growth and the pursuit of fair competition.
