랜드마크 인지속성을 기반한 역사문화광장 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

(연구 배경 및 목적) 도시 이미지를 구성하는 공간의 장소성을 물리적 외관(外觀)과 활동, 의미가 결합될 때 형성되는 것으로서 도시이미지란 각 개인이 도시의 각 부분을 자신과의 물적인 상호관계 속에서 인식하는 과거를 통해 그 도시 전체를 하나의 이미지로 정형화(定型化) 한 것이라고 정의할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 랜드마크의 인지속성과 유럽역사문화광장의 특성을 파악하고 도출하는 특성을 현 동양광장 사례에 적용해 문제점과 개선방향을 제시하고자 한다. (연구방법) 선행연구를 통해 도시 이미지 형성에서 랜드마크의 중요성과 그 형성과정에서 인식적 속성, 역사문화광장의 특성을 파악하였다. 이러한 선행조사를 바탕으로 인지속성에 기반한 역사문화광장의 공간적 특성을 도출해서 동양의 역사문화광장에 대한 사례분석을 실시하여 향후 동양 역사문화광장을 재조성이나 리모델링할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. (결과) 랜드마크의 인지속성과 유럽 역사문화광장의 특성을 기반으로 본 논문에서 분석 모델인 접근의 용이성, 기능의 다양성, 환경의 쾌적성, 형태의 예술성, 맥락의 연계성, 의미의 상징성 6가지 특성을 도출하였다. 사례 종합 분석을 바탕으로 광화문광장이 가장 높은 평가 순위로 나타났고, 태국의 사남루앙 광장이 가장 낮은 순위로 나타났다. 특성 분석 결과는 문화적 측면의 특성을 제외하고 다른 특성 평가 결과가 다 낮은 걸로 나타났다. 따라서 인지속성을 반영하기 위해 역사문화광장은 공간 구성과 미학의 두 가지 측면에서 중시하고 전반적으로 보완되어야 한다. (결론) 본 연구를 통해 광장이 랜드마크로서의 역할을 강화함으로써 공간의 구성적, 미학적, 문화적 특성을 살리며 효과적인 공간 표현을 실현함으로써 도시의 이미지를 강화할 수 있기를 기대한다. 이러한 노력은 경제적인 활성화와 도시 인식의 확대에 도움을 주며 토지 가치를 증가시키고 도시의 경쟁력을 향상시켜 시민들에게 더욱 효율적이고 소속감이 있는 장소를 제공할 수 있기를 기대한다.

(Research Background and Purpose) The placeness of urban spaces, which encompasses their physical appearance, activities, and meanings, contributes to the formation of an urban image. The urban image can be understood as the overall representation of the city, resulting from individual recognition of different parts of the city through past experiences and personal interactions. In light of this, the objective of this study is to analyze the cognitive attributes of landmarks and the characteristics of European historical and cultural squares, and apply them to the specific case of Oriental Square. By doing so, the study aims to identify existing problems and provide directions for improvement. (Research Method) Based on previous research that highlighted the significance of landmarks in urban image formation, as well as the cognitive properties involved in this process, and the characteristics of historical and cultural squares, we aimed to derive the spatial characteristics of historical and cultural plazas based on cognitive properties. Additionally, we conducted a case analysis of the historical and cultural plaza in the Eastern region to provide suggestions for future reconstruction or renovation. By utilizing the insights gained from these surveys, we aimed to identify opportunities for enhancing the urban image through the revitalization of historical and cultural plazas in the Eastern region. (Results) This paper derived six characteristics based on the cognitive properties of landmarks and the characteristics of European historical and cultural squares: ease of access, diversity of functions, comfort of the environment, artistry of form, connection of context, and symbolism of meaning. Through a comprehensive case analysis, Gwanghwamun Square received the highest evaluation ranking, while Sanam Luang Square in Thailand received the lowest. The analysis of these characteristics revealed that, apart from cultural characteristics, the evaluation results for the other characteristics were generally low. Therefore, in order to reflect the cognitive properties, emphasis should be placed on the spatial composition and aesthetics of historical and cultural plazas, while also addressing other areas that may require improvement. (Conclusion) This study aims to enhance the image of the city by emphasizing the plaza's role as a landmark and leveraging the spatial composition, aesthetics, and cultural characteristics of the space to achieve effective spatial expression. These efforts are expected to contribute to the revitalization of the economy, increase urban awareness, raise land value, and improve the city's competitiveness. Ultimately, the study seeks to provide citizens with a more efficient and engaging place that fosters a sense of belonging.
