- Alternative Title
- A Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Floating Wave-Breakers in finite Depth
- Abstract
Recently Floating breakwaters have been used for wave control because it have advantages of sea water exchange function and so on. But we haven's had a exact solution about its performances yet, we also have a negative part of it - floating breakwaters must allow partial transmission of wave.
In this paper, three dimensional source distribution method to be applied in finite depth was developed and also experiments were carried out in order to know the performance of floating breakwaters.
Measured and computed studies were made in order to investigate the performance of breakwaters to various waves and several parameters, spacing of pintoons, geometry of structure, appendage plate.
It is found that transmission coefficients of floating breakwaters depend on the spacing f the pontoons, geometry of structure and appendage plate.
