산업유형별 생산전략과 기업성과 : 개념적 모형

Abstract

본 연구는 제조업의 생산전략을 연구하기 위해서 산업을 분류할 것이며, 산업유형별로 주된 경쟁우위와 생산전략은 무엇인가를 밝히고자 한다. 한편 우리나라 제조업의 주된 경쟁우위와 생산전략은 어떻게 동태적으로 변화해 왔으며, 산업유형과 생산전략의 적합성에 따른 기업성과의 차이는 어떠하며, 첨단 제조기술이 생산전략에 미치는 영향을 어떠한가를 살펴보고자 한다.

먼저 이론적 고찰을 통해 산업유형을 어떻게 구분해 왔던가를 살펴보며, 생산전략의 경쟁차원, 전략변수, 성과변수를 정리하고, 첨단제조기술의 전략적 의미에 관한 문헌을 정리했다.

우리나라의 산업은 기술의 도입단계, 내재화 단계, 기술개량 및 자체 개발기를 거쳐 발전해 왔다. 이때 기술 발전단계별로 경쟁우위와 생산전략이 어떻게 다른가를 실증적으로 살펴보며, 제조업에서 주로 사용된 생산전략이 저노동비용 전략, 규모의 경제 전략, 다양성의 경제전략임을 밝혔다.

본 연구는 위의 결과를 중심으로 최근 중요시되는 첨단제조기술의 전략적 차원을 포괄할 수 있도록 산업유형을 생산기술의 유연성과 복잡성의 높고 낮음에 따라 분류하고, 이에 따라 주된 경쟁우위, 생산전략의 차이, 생산전략의 동?쩜? 변화, 기업성과 및 첨단 제조기술 등에 관한 가설을 제시했다.

This paper deals with the contingency framework that links among production systems, advanced manufacturing technologies, and manufacturing strategies. Specifically, an explicit conceptual link between 'generic manufacturing strategy' that uses two dimensions : competitive advantage and scale/scope of manufacturing, and the complementary production system typology that uses technical complexity and technical flexibility is drawn. Moreover, this paper expands the area of interest to analyze the link between manufacturing strategies and 'advanced manufacturing technologies.'

This study, by developing a contingency framework, clarifies and integrates the terms and concepts relevant to manufacturing strategy from business strategy research. But, empirical study of this framework is requested afterward.
