포퍼의 플라톤 정치철학 비판에 대한 응답

Abstract

본 논문은 플라톤의 정치철학이 포퍼의 정치사상보다 우리의 삶의 규범을 정립하는데 보다 유용하다는 것을 명백히 하는데 있으며, 또한 근대성과 기술적 정형문화의 나쁜 산물(부정의, 소외, 불평등, 불행)이 플라톤의 전체성과 유기적 정치철학에 기인하는 것이 아니라 포퍼의 원자론적, 기계적 정치사상에 기인한다는 것을 설명하는데도 그 의의가 있다.

포퍼의 정치사상은 비결정론적과 방법론적 개인주의에 기초한다. 그래서 그는 플라톤의 정치사상을 전체주의로 간주하고 플라톤의 정의는 평등개념이 아니고 지배계급의 특권이라고 비판한다. 또한 역사주의는 무용하며 개방사회의 적이라고 비판한다. 그러나 플라톤의 정치철학을 비판하는 이유는 그의 사회공학과 특히 그의 방법론적 개인주의가 그 이유이다. 그러므로 본 논문은 포퍼이 결함을 밝히고 플라톤의 정의의 핵을 인지하고 현대사회에 그것을 새롭게 조명하는데 있다.

This paper is inteded to make clear that plato's political philosophy is more availavle for our constructing norms of life than popper's political thought, and it is also intended to explain that the bad products(injustice, alienation, unhappiness, inequality) of moderity and the technomorphic culture are caused not by Plato's holistic and organic political plilosophy but popper's automic and mechanic political thought.

popper's political thought is based on inderminism and methodological individualism. So he regraded plato's political thought as totalitarianism and he criticized that plato's justice is not an equal concept but the privilege of the ruling class, And he also criticized that historicism is useless and it is the enemy of the open society.

But plato's political philosophy is never same with totalitarianism and his justice is truly an equal concept. The reason why Popper critized Plato's political philosophy made by his social engineering especially his methodological individualism.

Therefore this paper is intended to make clear Popper's fault, to recognize the core of Plato's justice and to illuminate it in contemporary society newly.
