The radiation shielding characteristics of the newly developed type Multi-leaf Collimator
Abstract
We have newly developed Multi-leaf Collimator(MLC), which is the one of the essential equipments for coformal therapy, and examined its radiation shielding characteristics.

Radiation transmission through leaf is 1.5∼1.9% for various photon energies(4MV, 6MV and 15MV) at the dmax depth. And those for various depths are around 2% : The transmission factor is increased as photon energy increases, while one cannot find depth-transmission relation. Inter-leaf leakage is 1.9∼2.5%, which is good for clinical application.

AMC type MLC shows superior shielding characteristics to commercially available MLC system.
