한국 성인에서 궐련형 전자담배의 전자기기 규제 지지도 및 관련 요인

Abstract

Background: Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are gaining popularity in South Korea. This study analyzed the support for HTP devices regulation and factors associated with it. Methods: This study included 7,000 South Korean adults (2,300 men and 4,700 women). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed, which was adjusted for age, sex, education level, marital status, income level, status of tobacco products, the belief of the relative harmfulness of HTP use compared with combustible cigarettes (CCs), and knowledge on HTP regulation. Results: Of 7,000 participants, 6,198 (88.5%) agreed to regulate HTP devices. Support for HTP devices was significantly higher among participants aged 50-69 years (odds ratio [OR], 1.40; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.12-1.75) than among those of other age groups; among women (OR, 1.61; 95% CI, 1.35-1.92) than among men; among those with a 4-year college degree or higher (OR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.23-1.68) than among those with lower degrees; among former tobacco product users (OR, 8.74; 95% CI, 5.23-14.60) than among non-users of tobacco products; among respondents who believed that HTPs were more harmful than CCs (OR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.55-2.86) than among those who believed otherwise; and among respondents with knowledge on HTP regulation (OR, 3.49; 95% CI, 2.67-4.56) than among those with no knowledge on the same. Conclusion: Support for HTP devices regulation among South Korean adults was strong. This would help introduce regulation of HTP devices in the future.
