- Alternative Title
- Improvement of parameters in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during surgery for cervical spondylotic myelopathy
- Abstract
- To reduce the risk of neurologic deficit, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is used in spine surgery. A 71-year-old male with cervical spondylotic myelopathy underwent anterior cervical corpectomy and interbody fusion. During the surgery, an increase in amplitude of motor evoked potential (MEP) was detected and a decrease in latency of somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) followed. After surgery, he had an improvement in neurological function and subjective symptoms. Improvement of IOMN signals during surgery may indicate better prognosis in cervical spondylotic myelopathy patient.
