Tumor localization for breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Metadata Downloads
Abstract
With great interest, we read the study by Cha et al. that investigated the association between tumor marker insertion and pathologic margin status in patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery (BCS) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) [1]. They did not find significant differences in re-excision rates due to positive margins between single and double marker insertion; thus, they concluded that double marker insertion had no additional benefit in achieving negative resection margins. While we applaud the authors for their informative research regarding tumor localization techniques in patients receiving NACT, we feel that several points, combined with our experience, deserve further comments.
