Model Predictive Current Control Scheme for Seven-Phase Voltage Source Inverter with Reduced Common-Mode Voltage and Current Harmonics

Abstract
This article presents a simple model-predictive current control (MPCC) scheme to reduce both the common-mode voltage (CMV) and current harmonics for a two-level seven-phase voltage-source inverter (VSI). In order to reduce CMV and loworder current harmonics simultaneously, we propose 14 virtual voltage vectors as an input control set for the proposed simple MPCC scheme. In each sampling period, the optimal voltage vector is directly selected from the 14 virtual voltage vectors to achieve the best output current performance without a cost function. Therefore, time-consuming and complex selection of suitable weighting factors is avoided, and the computational burden is dramatically reduced compared with that of the conventional MPCC scheme. Simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme.
