- Abstract
The effect of a crack length on the stress intensity factor, stress and displacement distributions has been studied for a finite sheet having a cracked circular hole under a uniform stress boundary condition.
The computation was accomplished using MMC(Modified Mapping Collocation) method introduced by Bowie. Height-to-width ratio was fixed to 1 and crack length-to-width ratio varied from 0.3 to 0.7. As crack length increased, stress intensity factor increased and the stress and displacement distribution varied remarkably.
As the radius of the hole increased and height-to-width ratio decreased, stress intensity factor increased.
